Concealed Weapon Permits
This site is designed to give general information as well as specific requirements regarding applying for a carry concealed weapon (CCW) license with the Yuba County Sheriff's Office for those residing within Yuba County. For the safety of all personnel, all weapons must be unloaded, in a locked container with the actions opened and without the magazines (clips) when brought into the Yuba County Sheriff's Office. You will be turned away if you arrive with your weapons in any other fashion.
Issuance Criteria For Permit Applicants
A Driver's License with current address or change of address on file with DMV
- Must be at 21 years of age and presents clear evidence of the person’s identity and age, as defined in Penal Code section 16400.
- Not a disqualified person to receive such a license, as determined in accordance with the standards set forth in Penal Code section 26202.
- Must be a resident of Yuba County and be able to provide two of the following proofs of residency (must be recent, in your name with date and address visible):
- Most recent voting record for Yuba County
- Mortgage, Garbage, Water, Electric or Cable/Satellite bill
- Lease/Rental agreement from a Property Management company with contact information
- Current property tax bill with homeowner's exemption
- Home/Cell phone bill
- Credit Card/Bank Statement
- Vehicle registration
Must attend and successfully complete a California Department of Justice approved training course. The instruction must be at least sixteen (16) hours for new and eight (8) hours for renewal and modification and include firearms safety, the law regarding the permissible use of a firearm, and mental health component. The course of training must also include qualification for all weapon types listed on the concealed weapon (CCW) permit. Applicants must provide old permit if application is for a renewal or modification.

New Applicants
Complete “New” State Standard Application online with the following links:

New applicants: once your application is complete, you are required to schedule your interview appointment/LiveScan . On the date of the interview, the applicant is required to bring the weapon and/or weapons with them un-loaded and in a locked container to the Sheriff's Office so that the weapon(s) can be inspected and serial numbers documented. You do not need to bring the magazines (clips) with you.
During the interview, you must disclose any arrests, regardless of disposition. Failure to disclose or provide the required information is an automatic disqualification for a CCW permit. After the interview, you will have your fingerprints taken. A check will be conducted by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I.). Upon receiving clearance from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, permit approval notification will be made by telephone.
New Application Fees: The application fee is $205.00. Cash, checks, credit card, and/or money orders are accepted. Fees are reassessed July 1st of every year and are subject to change as allowed by law. These fees are for processing and, as such, are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Renewing Applicants

The renewal fee is $65.00. Cash, check, credit card, and/or money orders are accepted. Fees are reassessed July 1st of every year and are subject to change as allowed by law. These fees are for processing and, as such, are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Modifications
Complete the State Standard Modification form online at https://yubaca.permitium.com/ccw/start
The modification fee is $10.00. Cash, check, credit card, and/or money orders are accepted. Fees are reassessed July 1st of every year and are subject to change as allowed by law. These fees are for processing and, as such, are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Modifications to add/delete weapons(s) to a permit will not be allowed within 90 days immediately following the date the permit is issued or 90 days prior to the permit expiring. Modifications to add a weapon(s) to a permit will require a qualification certificate from one of the accepted firearms course instructors and must include each weapon to be added. Certificates that are older than 6 months will not be accepted for modification. List all weapons you want listed on your CCW, even if they are on your previous CCW. Only the weapons listed will be included on your CCW.
If modifying a license for the purpose of an ADDRESS CHANGE, PLEASE SUBMIT the following items WITH YOUR APPLICATION SUBMISSION:
- California Driver’s License reflecting new address. If you have not yet received your updated Driver’s License, please submit a copy of a receipt from DMV stating that a change of address has been submitted.
- Current month utility bill or other sufficient proof of full-time residency as indicated on your application.
Transfer

This process is for individuals that have a current CCW permit from the Sheriff of another county in California but have now moved to Yuba County and therefore need a permit issued from the Sheriff in Yuba County.
It is similar to the process for an initial permit but applicant has a current permit issued by another Sheriff in California and in good standing. Applicant may or may not qualify for a transfer. Determination will be made when applicant through the interview/LiveScan process.
Denial of Application/Appeals Process
Applicants who are denied a concealed weapons permit will be advised of the reason for the denial. All applicants who are denied a permit have the right to appeal the decision with the Yuba County Superior Court.
